THE LEGO MOVIE

It was Heritage Day yesterday and we took the opportunity to finally sit down and watch The Lego Movie.

"Everything is Awesome", everything in the movie is indeed awesome! 

We were impressed how the animation resembled stop-motion, bearing in mind everything was done through computer graphics, and have to commend Animal Logic for following the same articulation limits that actual Lego figures have.

A family movie (filled with quick humor that only adults will get & appreciate) that reminds us to inspire children, allow them to explore their creativity and think beyond instruction sheets.

Be warned though, The Lego Movie ties-in with 17 new building sets & 16 new characters - admittedly we have already been our and purchased three of the sets!

Lastly we have learned that a sequel is being written and is scheduled to be released May 26, 2017.

MOC - OCTAN SERVICE STATION

Our first 'MOC'..

Service station is built entirely from 'compatible bricks' with all stickers printed by ourselves. The go-mart features a Point of sale, a rack with various products and a cooldrink fridge against the back wall.

As our brick collection grows the service station will definitely be upgraded and improved on.

WIP - STAIRWAY DELI

A friend opened up a Deli in Kensington Johannesburg a while ago and we assisted on his stand at the Kensington Spring Day in the park.

A busy day serving Hungarian fare that saw for a lot of exposure for the deli.
Following our last visit to the deli we decided to tackle our first modular building based on the deli which once completed will be placed alongside the conservation area of Luboville.

As the title of this post states it is a work in progress and has come to a complete halt due to a lack of the right bricks and colour... will update in the future as bricks are available and the model is completed.

Downstairs consists of the cooking area, deli counter and will eventually have a inside and outside seating area. Upstairs is the living area and we plan to build an office area and lounge into the roof.

A very quick build. Pieces are of good quality the pricing however for Enlighten is high and hence the overall rating of 5/10. Signs are printed directly on the tiles so no stickers to mess with and the bicycle has rubber tires which was surprising.

BACK AGAIN

Ensuring a daily post on the blog is proving more difficult than anticipated; all too quickly the demands of life and business take over and the blog along with playing with creative bricks takes a back seat.

Anyway now back in Natal again, so once again every effort will be made to update the blog on a regular basis.

Having been in Johannesburg for the last two weeks, we did manage to pick up some new sets from Enlighten...

We expected to find a wide variety of the compatible bricks in Johannesburg, this however was not the case and to compound matters many of the vendors are pricing the product inline with the name brand! Frustrating and disappointing to say the least.   

NEW LEGO® SETS

To our knowledge the new Batman Tumbler (#76023) was available as of 1 Sept 2014 in some countries and can't wait to get our hands on it. We tend to get new sets a lot later here and this got us wondering as to just how many months we are behind? We are also curious as to whether or not this will even be available in South Africa... Point in question is Lego® Ghostbusters (#21108) this was launched in June 2014, and as yet we have not managed to find it locally.
